Intuition or Anxiety? Learning to Hear the Difference
7 min read
Both can feel urgent and bodily. Discernment grows when we observe tone, repetition, evidence and what each voice asks us to do.
Two signals, one body
Intuition and anxiety can both arrive as sensation, image or sudden knowing. Rather than treating intensity as proof, notice the quality of the message. Anxiety often repeats, escalates and demands certainty. Intuition may be quiet, specific and compatible with patient checking.
Discernment before certainty
Spiritual openness does not require us to accept every internal signal as truth. Compare the message with observable facts, values, context and likely consequences. When safety or health is involved, qualified support matters more than symbolic interpretation.
Practise the pause
Write the message exactly as it appeared. Separate sensation from interpretation. Ask what evidence supports it, what would disconfirm it and what small reversible action respects both intuition and reality.
